Ministry Update - June 2014
What am I doing nowadays? Especially during weekends!
I am preaching 3 Sundays a month.
That's what I did in June.
First Week of June I preached on the resurrection and evidences for the resurrection @ Kannivadi Church.
Second week I was on duty.
Third week I preached from Romans 8: 11,12.@ Meignanapuram village church, near Kannivadi.
Fourth Week I preached on the Topic: One God, One Family. On how we need to be sure that Jesus is the only way to be saved. That we who believe are one family and should focus on 1 John 3:16.
First the most disturbing thing for me was to see that all the villages I visited had a "colony" just outside the village where the once considered untouchable live. The good thing is the Church is situated in these areas, where the oppressed and marginalised people live. Some people refuse to come to Christ because of the association of the Church with these marginalised and oppressed people. They associate Christianity with outcastes and ritually polluted people.
The Wisdom of God is this: He has chosen to side with the oppressed and marginalized, which is a judgement against a society which is now rejecting him for it. Now anyone who chooses to come to Christ has to really count the cost, the rejection by the family and society.
I am staying with Bro. Jeyasurya, who is married to Sis. Sathiya. Brother is from Roman Catholic background and sister is from Hindu background. Both of them are baptized and now attend Assembly of God Church in Kannivadi. They have a one year old Child named Shalom. Now when Sis. Sathiya decided to marry Bro. Surya, her family vehemently opposed them. Since she did not budge, they brought her to the police station where they declared in writing that they have nothing more to do with their daughter. She has sacrificed her family to follow Chirst. She cannot inherit anything and cannot participate in their family special occasions. There is always a cost and people are happily paying it up for Christ, whose love they cherish and enjoy above all.
Brother has also started preaching now.
So we start again this month, tomorrow.
Please pray for God's work in and through me and brother Jeyasurya. Pray especially that the Churches will be renewed and believers will be encouraged and will reach out to their neighbors.
