The Sin of Favouritism

8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing right. 9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.James 2

This passage talks about favouritism within the Christian community. If you are a christian and you show favouritism based on economic status , education , social status , position of power , race , colour , ethnicity , caste, family , theological conviction or place or any other thing then it is a serious sin.

This sin is quiet common , but nevertheless a sin still, it wrecks havoc in the church and creates a bad image about the family of God.

James does not stop there. He builds his argument in a way which makes sense spiritually .
9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. 11 For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. 12 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!

When we show favouritism we break the whole law of God. Christ has set us free not so that we can sin . For the freedom he gives is freedom from sin. It is the law of Christ which gives freedom from sin i.e as long as you obey it.
So when we show favouritism be sure , you will be judged , if you don't repent.
Only if you are merciful and don't show favouritism will you be shown mercy. If you are unrepentent and keep showing favouritism , then , you will not be shown mercy.

Today , if God has spoken to you and if you have shown favoritism , then repent of that sin and ask for God's forgiveness . Repent or face the judgement.
Discrimination has no place in the Church of the living God.
